Folk Festival, a Few more Observations

I cannot resist sharing a few additional observations made during the annual Folk Festival weekend.

Seen on the trip north and the trip south:

Our drive takes us through Hollywood, Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s reservation and primary enterprise, The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, opened 2004. Actually, in 2007, the Seminole Tribe of Florida acquired Hard Rock International, Inc., one of the most globally recognized companies in the world with venues in over seventy countries.

Visitors who fly into South Florida often ask what is this unexpected and recognizable structure seen from many flight patterns. It’s the new landmark hotel as part of the Hard Rock.

Seen at the Festival:

playing the saw

My previous post about the Festival (6-20-22) focused primarily on the Folklife Area, organized by our State Folklorist. As Constant Companion and I wandered the vast grounds enjoying all sorts of other music, I had to remark on this group of old time musicians including one playing the saw!

Seen while off the Road:

marijuana and munchies

I think it was in Ocala where these promotional signs caught my eye. Side by side one could get their marijuana, followed by chicken wings to satisfy the accompanying munchies!
